Top Golf Movies

Going to the movies has been a favorite past time of mine for as long as I can remember. There are few things in life that can entertain you as well as a movie that moves your heart. Whether that movie is an action adventure with lots of explosions or a romantic comedy that touches you in a special way.

I love all types of movies and the ones that I enjoy the most are the movies that tell a meaningful story that leaves me with a sense of wonder. If you are a sports fan and a movie fan, there are certain movies that reasonate within your soul. Some great sports movies that I have enjoyed are; Remember the Titans, Field of Dreams, Bull Durham, Glory Road, Major League, The Rookie, For the Love of the Game and Seabiscuit to name a few.

I am a movie lover. I have over 400 movies in my collection and watch one almost every day. But it is the sports movies I love to watch as much or more then any other.

There are not as many great golf movies as there are baseball movies. But some of those golf movies have some great sequences in them that any lover of golf will truely enjoy.

What are your favorite golf movies of all time? Here are a list of just a few. Feel free to comment with any of your favorite golf movies.

1. The Greatest Game Ever Played
2. The Legend of Bagger Vance
3. Tin Cup
4. A Gentlemans Game
5. Caddy Shack
6. Happy Gilmore
7. Bobby Jones - Strokes of Genius

Great Golf - What is it

Baseball is often considered "Americas Game". It is often considered a great American Pastime because it was invented here. It is of the nature of the game that there is a certain amount of limitlessness to it. There is no time limit. There are so many variables to the game. What will the pitcher throw? What will the batter do? Will he bunt or swing away? The game can go on forever until a winner is determined in the last at bat. It is an amazing game to play and to watch.

A good example of that was last nights High School baseball game. It was 4-0 in the bottom of the 7th inning (last inning of play in HS ball). The home team came from behind to score 4 runs and tie the game. It was pouring rain and the field was getting sloppy. Both teams were stranding base runners and no body could seem to get the key hit at the right time to score the winning run. Then in the bottom of the ninth with 2 outs and the bases loaded someone hit a hard ground ball down the line to score the winning run. The fans cheered, the players celebrated a hard fought victory in the rain. The defeated team sought refuge in the dugout while their coach applauded their effort on the field in such miserable weather. It was a great game to watch.

But do these factors make baseball the greatest game? Sure it is a great game with over 150 years of history, but there are other sports with as much history just a many elements that make them a great game as baseball. But the best of those has to be golf.

So what does baseball have to do with great golf? There are many similarities between the two sports. But in my opinion golf beats out baseball and all others as the truest test of a persons toughness and willingness to persevere to the end.

To be continued.

Tiger's Best Nike Commercial Ever

Everyone today is talking about this new Nike commercial that features the voice of Tigers father Earl. After viewing the commercial I must admit that it did creep me out a little bit. But if you listen to what is being said it makes more sence.

However, I would like to point out one thing. Of all the commercials that Tiger has done, the one featured below is my favorite by far.

I cannot tell you how many hours I have spent bouncing that little white ball on the face of my wedge. I did it everyday it seemed, any free moment. And I thought I was pretty good at it. I mean I could keep it going for quite a while.

But when I saw this commercial for the first time it demolished any thought that I was good at doing the bouncing ball trick. I concede to Tiger.

The Birth of the Fist Pump

When was the birth of the fist pump? When did Tiger Woods first make this signature celebration his own?

Some might say it was in the 1994 US Amateur at the TPC at Sawgrass when he uncorked the fist pump on the famous 17th green in the final match after making a big putt to take the lead in the match for the first time with one hole to play. Tiger had come from behind to win after trailing in the championship match by 4 holes after the morning 18 holes of the 36 hole match and was down 5 with 12 holes to play in the match. At the famous Island Green 17th at TPC Tiger holed the 14 footer from just off the green and the fist pump soon followed.

But how many fans were really watching Tiger at that stage of his career? So I believe that the fist pump truly became Tigers signature expression when he holed a 35 foot eagle putt on the 29th hole to cut the lead to 3 holes in the 1996 US Amateur at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club and then another 35 foot birdie putt to tie the match on the 35th hole with one to play. Tiger was once again down by 5 holes in this match as he was in 1994 and again came from behind to win in extra holes.

Which is it? Take your pick, but I have to say it was here in Oregon at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club where Tiger Woods made the fist pump one of the more recognizable and exciting celebrations in golf.

Greatest Masters Moments

The Masters golf tournament has had its share of spectacular moments over the last 76 years. From Single shots to amazing final rounds, The Masters has provided some of the greatest moments in all sports.

Grat shots by players with the tournament on the line. Tigers amazing chip in at the 16th hole in the 2005 Masters, Larry Mizes chip in to beat Greg Norman in the 1987 Masters, the tee shot by Jack Nicklaus on the 16th hole in the 1986 Masters and "The Putt" at the 17th to take the lead in the 1986 Masters.

If you were not around to watch Nicklaus and Palmer in their primes then you missed some of the best golf ever played and crowds that were the equal to Tigers today. Take a look at the Arnold Palmer video and see why it was called Arnies Army.

The memories of these moments from The Masters will live in the hearts of golf fans forever. Thanks!

Who Will Win The Masters

They are known by their first names only. Tiger, Phil, Sergio, Bubba, Ernie, Padraig. Who will win the 2010 Masters? We will know on Sunday. Frankly I think it will be none of the above.

It seems that for the last few years the winner of The Masters has been someone out of the pack that not many expected to be in the hunt. Cabrera, Immelman, Johnson. Who would have picked them in a pre-tournament poll. Not me that is for sure.

Who will be the darkhorse this year? Take our poll of favorites or tweet your darkhorse pick to @OneDogGolf today.

Once you have done that, sit back, open a beer or pour a glass of wine and enjoy the best tournament of the year.
